PHOTOS - Interpretation Board and Sign Post Installations Dec 2017
The new signage in the wood leading to the Bohemia Walled Garden has been funded as part of the Bohemia Walled Garden Association's Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) project.
The aims are to make the garden more accessible and to give more information regarding the Victorian Garden and the surrounding Summerfields Wood which is a local nature reserve.
The large information board has been purchased from FitzpatrickWoolmer, the graphic design is by Kristina Alexandra and the animal drawings are by Danielle Castelino.
The board was installed by our Ranger Nick Hennessy from Hastings Borough Council with the help of a group of young people, staff from the Education Futures Trust (EFT) and garden volunteers Eric and Georgy.
The way-markers were designed and created by a local Wood Artist Nick Meech. Nick also run four wood work/carving sessions. These were for the EFT group, the Home Education group who are garden members and at the Pumpkin day. Community engagement being a criteria for the HLF grant.
The large way-markers will have banners that can be attached to them to show when the garden is open for task days and events.
The animals on the markers are linked to the drawings on the Information board, in the garden booklet and to the Natural Heritage workshops in 2016.
A notice board for members will be installed inside the garden from this funding.
Mary has overseen this project will help from other volunteers and the trustees.
Locations of the large way-markers are:
*On the green opposite Summerfields Leisure Centre car park
*Entrance to the wood from the Law Courts
*Entrance to woods from Briscoes Walk (near St Pauls School)
There are three small ones are in between the large ones.
Thanks to all involved.
